Pain vs Discomfort

**No pain, no gain**

**The pain you feel today, will be the strength you feel tomorrow**

**Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever**

We see quotes like this ALL the time! While training hard for better results and having sore muscles after an intense workout, is inevitable. However, there is a difference between the DISCOMFORT your muscles feel during a good workout and PAIN. If you feel pain during your workout, let your personal trainer know immediately. If the pain doesn't go away by adjusting body positioning, form, weight, or intensity, STOP what you are doing.

Sometimes pain may be a fluke and could be a result from very minor issues, but if the pain persists, your personal trainer should refer you to a physician or physical therapist.

Diagnosing pain and prescribing rehabilitation for injuries are NOT in our scope of practice. Personal trainers DO NOT rehab, we focus on preventing injuries and should work closely with your physician or physical therapist to help you return to your normal fitness routine as quickly and safely as possible.

***Be leery of personal trainers that try to diagnose or rehab injuries.***
